Freelance Software Tester (Localization Testing, Japan)

Hi there! We are Testlio, a software testing company with its own freelance network. Our freelancers test apps from companies across the globe. Testlio is a great place for people who value the freedom and flexibility of remote work.

At the moment, we are looking for freelance software testers based in Japan to join us in testing an app focused on diet, fitness, fasting, and meal-tracking. We would like to collaborate with software testers with localization testing experience or linguists with an interest in learning about this type of software testing practices.

Our aim is to ensure that our client’s app is properly localized for a Japanese audience.

To participate in this project you will need to create an account on our platform. Through this account we can assign you testing tasks. You will be asked to use our website for defect tracking off the app. You will be given some material to go through on our website first to verify your eligibility.

Requirements

• You have to be at least 18 years old
• Location: Japan
• Availability: Testing requests are ad-hoc, meaning there is no set scheduling. We will let you know in advance when we will test the app, and you can accept or decline the test run depending on your availability.
• Language: English (intermediate or higher) for reading the testing instructions and collaborating with the testing team & Native/Advance/Bilingual Japanese for testing the app itself
• Devices you may need: an Android (Android 12+ OS) smartphone or an iPhone (iOS 15+)
• Experience: Localization testing experience or linguistic experience (but willing to learn about software testing best practices)

What does testing look like?

• Type of testing: Localization
• Type of work: short-term, freelance
• Workload: Tasks can last between 0.5h to 2h. You will be given a 4h testing window to complete your tasks.
• The payrate for this is $18 USD / h
  • Payments are made every week via PayPal or Payoneer.

How to start?

  • All freelance software testers must have an account on our platform. The testing task and run documentation will be hosted on our website, which you can only access if you have an account.
• You will need to ensure your profile is complete
• You will receive instructions on where to apply on our platform in an email
• You will be asked to go through some materials to determine your eligibility, we will share more details about these steps after you have finished creating an account.
