Meet a Tester: Inna Josepha Miltony Martšuk , Managing Editor, Testlio December 4th, 2019 In Meet a Tester, we feature QA experts from our community who share their love for quality and Testlio. Inna is a dedicated software tester from Lviv, Ukraine. Where are you from? I’m from an ancient Ukranian historical city named Lviv. The town is very old and famous for its coffee, sweets and fancy restaurants that attract more and more tourists every year. Since I’m half-Polish and half-Ukrainian, my native languages are Polish and Ukrainian but I’m also fluent in Russian and getting better and better in English 🙂 What is your educational background? I graduated from the Academy of Print in Lviv with a specialty in bookkeeping. During my studies, I wrote articles for various magazines and prepared informational materials for radio and online TV intended for the Polish community living in Ukraine. In addition, I attended many journalism workshops and conferences and even participated a few times in the Polish Economical Forum. How did you end up testing for Testlio? Through my husband actually (who, as it happens, works as a QA Manager and Team Lead in his day-to-day job). We were living in Poland for a few years before we relocated back to Ukraine – over there, I was working as a Human Resource manager in charge of the relocation and onboarding activities of the company’s international hires. In the evenings, I used to watch my husband work for Testlio and so I became more and more interested in IT and testing in general. I decided to attend the QA Academy and develop myself in this direction. Then, when I finished the academy, I managed to receive my first job as a Junior QA specialist in a big outsourcing company. After we came back to Ukraine, I decided that I was ready for a new challenge and so I joined Testlio. What do you like about Testlio? Working for Testlio is way different than your regular office job – it’s exciting and challenging at the same time! You really need to build great organizational skills and commit to your own self-development. I never get bored and I feel that I grow with every cycle I attend. Also, I really appreciate that the whole community is always responsive and helpful. How does Testlio’s pay compare to your market rate? In my opinion, Testlio’s pay rate is way better than that of the other crowd testing platforms I’m aware of. The biggest plus is that testers get paid for their effort and not for the number of bugs they find – as this often leads to basic bug hunting instead of being fully able to focus on app flows. How do you manage the balance between testing and personal life? Work-life balance is very important to me and that’s one of the main reasons I’ve chosen to work for Testlio. It allows me to allocate quality time between work, self-development, family, sport and traveling. You just need your laptop, mobile device, and a stable internet connection to work from any place in the world – that’s super flexible and comfortable. What motivates you professionally? The biggest motivation for me is being able to constantly grow and develop myself as a professional. I’m always up for new challenges. I try to learn from my mistakes, draw conclusions and not repeat them. What’s an interesting fact about yourself? I love animals and always help the homeless ones. I’m a volunteer in the WWF organization and have my own little lion at home who helps me work 🙂 Inna’s little lion What are some apps you use that provide a great user experience? For fun and to keep an eye on social media, I use Instagram and Facebook. Also, I use various photo and video editors like Adobe Premier, Lightroom, AirBrush, and Snapseed. To track my sports activities, I use Nike Training Club and Runcoach. For work, I like to use Rec. (screen recorder) to record videos on android and iTools for iOS devices. How would you convince a friend to join Testlio? That won’t be hard at all 🙂 I will just tell my friend the benefits of working for Testlio and it will be more than enough!
