Freelance Software Tester (Geolocation Testing, Iowa)

Hi there! We are Testlio, a global software testing company with its own freelance network. Our freelancers test apps from companies across the globe. Testlio is a great place for people who value the freedom and flexibility of remote work.

At the moment, we are looking for freelance software testers based in the United States, specifically in Iowa or in cities very close to the border of Iowa to join us for a new freelance, remote project. For this project, testing involves walking and/or driving short distances to check geolocation accuracy of a sports betting/ casino app. More specifically, we’ll be checking whether or not the app can reliably track your geolocation. The app is designed to stop users from participating in betting/ casino activities if they travel out of a certain range.

For the driving part of the task, you will not be asked to use the app/any device while driving. You will need to either be driven by someone else while you test OR to have someone else operate the testing device while you drive.

Testers who live close to state border areas will also be assigned test cases that will involve them driving across the border with the app open to check if any restrictions or warnings are displayed.

In some cases you will be asked to place a small wager. Ordinarily, this should not work, but if it does we will immediately issue a reimbursement to cover the cost.

To participate in this project, you will need to create an account on our platform. Through this account, we can assign you testing tasks. You will be asked to use our website for defect tracking and will be given some material to go through to prepare you for testing.

Requirements

• Age: You have to be at least 18 years old.
• Location: Must be physically located in the United States, in Iowa or in the cities bordering the state of Iowa.
• Availability: We will estimate the testing task length based on your location. Otherwise, this is a one time task.
• Devices: iPhone and/or Android Phone
• Experience: Software testing experience is a plus, but if you are new to testing, we offer free courses to help you learn and grow. 
  • We have a preparatory course that will teach you more about how to test on our website.
